Increased Productivity; Improved Lead Times
Litron’s 5-Axis Vertical Machining Center is Up, Running and Producing
The 5-Axis Haas Vertical Machining Center at Litron’s Agawam facility is now fully functional and helping to increase production. This increased productivity is a win-win for Litron’s Electronic Package Fabrication division and its customers, by not only increasing the production rate but also improving upon lead times.
What Does A 5-Axis Machine Mean For Your Parts?
The 5-Axis machine allows the operator to run up to five sides of the package with a single setup. With only one more setup, the package is complete and the operator is ready to load another set. With traditional 3-Axis machines, you have up to six setups for one package, which means more operator involvement and ultimately more time for adjusting and tool setup.
One Machine Multiple Parts!
The Haas 5-Axis Vertical Machining Center is setup to handle up to two packages simultaneously for 5-Axis machining. “With that level of capacity and minimal operator involvement, our lead times will improve drastically” says Chris Stefaniak, Process Engineer for Electronic Packaging. “As our customers demands grow, we’re constantly looking for ways to improve turn-around time and this machine will go a long way in that effort”.
